Parkersburg – The University of Virginia -Western in Parkersburg has announced the launch of its new radiology technology program.
The program, which offers an accelerated 16 -month program, will be available from May.
Erin Martin, director of radiology technology at WVUP, is based on his own journey of the majority in health care education.
After suffering complications during pregnancy and undergoing several ultrasounds, Martin felt called for radiology and health care. This experience inspired her to go into the field, where she now combines her passion for health care and education by teaching on future radiological technologists.
After graduating from WVUP with his Baccalaureate in Arts, Martin spent 12 years at the WVU Medicine Clark Medical Center working in the field.
“I knew I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives through health care, and radiology offered the ideal opportunity to do so,” she said. “Now, as I teach and form future radiological technologists, I have the impression that a dream come true to combine my love for education and health care.”
Students of the program will receive practical experience at WVU Medicine, working alongside technologists inscribed in a variety of clinical environments, including routine exams, trauma situations and specialized areas such as the cardiac catheteral laboratory.
The conditions preliminary to admission include the end of biology 109, obtaining a score of 75 or more to the HESI entrance exam, ending an observation session of the four -hour employment in Camden Clark and maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.0. The program is eligible for the WV invested subsidy and qualifies for the Ohio reciprocity agreement, offering an affordable course for students pursuing a career in health care.
