British Columbia asked to cut links with the owner of American Lifelabs in the middle of Trump prices

A public health defense urges the British government to end a contract with an American company that owns LiflabsThe main provincial ambulatory laboratory service provider.

The BC Health Coalition has published an open letter urging Prime Minister David Eby to follow a directive he issued last week so that all government organizations examine their relations with American companies in the middle of the tariff dispute, then cancel his contract with Quest Diagnostics.

The American company acquired Lifelabs across Canada last year for $ 1.35 billion, and the company is now involved in a workforce with its British Columbia workers who have eight weeks of strike.

About 1,200 Lifelabs strike workers are members of the British Columbia Employee General and Rotating Columbia, temporarily closing the laboratories for some days.

The Coalition letter now urges the province to provide laboratory services in the public system.
