Ohiohealth Give a significant step in his commitment to support survivors of sexual assault and other forms of interpersonal violence. This spring, Ohiohealth is implementing new forensic technology in more than two dozen emergency services.
Ohiohealth unfolds Cortexflo Camera Systems of Fernico– High resolution imaging technology built specifically for forensic use. They are called Sane (nurse of sexual examinator) cameras. Ohiohealth bought devices for 26 care sites. In addition, three care sites will be upgraded to new equipment in exchange for old cameras that include Ohiohealth O’bleness Hospital,, Ohiohealth Southeastern Medical CenterAnd Ohiohealth Van Wert Hospital.
“This technology allows us to capture incredibly detailed images of injuries that can result from sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, mistreatment of the elderly and other violent acts,” said Sheree Ford, BSN, RN, Sane-A, Sane-P, Clinical nurse for Pays for medicine to Ohiohealth. “The level of clarity and precision that we can now achieve a real difference in patient care and in the pursuit of justice.”
Cortexflo offers powerful capacities and advanced features include:
• High resolution imaging to detect micro-lords, which can be crucial in cases of sexual assault.
• contrast filters to improve low lesions that could otherwise be missed in photographs.
• Alternative capacity to the light source to detect dried body fluids such as sperm, saliva and urine – critical evidence in many forensic cases.
• Secure image storage and encryption for handling and transferring photographs safely during legal proceedings.
The system allows healthy nurses to zoom in on injuries, to capture more precise documentation and to support more complete care for survivors.
