With each passing decade, elite athletes seem to become faster, stronger and dare to say it, better. The performance improves and, therefore, the recordings fall.
But some recordings seem to be another world. Regardless of future technological or scientific progress, they feel out of reach and unbreakable. Although it was what many thought of the NHL’s goals from Wayne Gretzky, then came along Alexander Ovechkin.
For 31 years, Gretzky reigned as a scorer of all time in the NHL with 894 goals. It was before Ovechkin, 39, of Washington’s capitals exceeded this landmark on April 7. Gretzky still holds some records widely considered as untouchable – His ridiculous of 1,963 career helps, for example.
All this led us to consider certain other sports records which are considered to be unlikely to be beaten. Could they also be beaten, or are there any recordings that will remain forever in history books?
Soccer
The most distant objective: 96.01 meters (104.9 yards)
Whether intentional or not, in January 2021, the goalkeeper of the county of Newport, Tom King – with the benefit of a rebound and a wind assistance – marked from a kick.
He established the world record after dominating Stoke City’s former goal, the city’s city of Stoke, Asmir Begovic, the goal of 91.9 meters (100.5 yards) in November 2013. It would take a lot of Chutzpah (and the help of the elements) to beat King’s long distance strike.
The shortest time between two goals: nine seconds
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, new. It is not necessary at all to make these figures fail. Incredible, then that it only took nine seconds for Wycombe Wanderers mark Against Peterborough United in September 2000.
The first came from a free kick, and the second, after the half-time interval, was a superb solo effort by Jermaine McSporran, who marked the start. Peterborough United did not touch the ball from one goal to another, which was nine seconds from intervals in match time – establishing a new world record.
The highest score: 149-0
The defending champions of Madagascan at first level Olympic Stadium of Emyrne (SOE) came to their match against the Rivaux Amers as Dema Salty in November 2002.
In their previous match, SOE said that a penalty decision had opposed them, refusing them the opportunity to keep their title because the necessary victory was not guaranteed. To make matters worse because Adema was crowned champion.
In retaliation, SOE launched the next match against Adema as a protest against arbitration which, according to them, had refused the title to them. After winning the ball, they carried out 149 goals at a rate of one every 36 seconds, the kind of dramatic reality TV would be proud.
Olympic Games
Gold medals: 23
Michael Phelps could injure his neck if he wore his 23 Olympic gold medals. Six athletes have nine gold medals, including active American swimmers Katie Ledecky and Caeleb Dressel, but they still do not get closer to Phelps, which won eight gold medals only at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
This helps that swimmers can compete in different disciplines and at different distances, but no swimmer in history has been close to having the extent of the Phelps in the pool, both in terms of events in which he excelled and the period of time he was at his peak – dominating with four games in several disciplines.
Also brilliant a Ledecky swimmer, she excels only in free distance. Likewise, Dressel is a sprint specialist. The French Leon Marchand, 22, who won four gold medals in Paris last year, has time for his side and talent. But even with swimming events of 50 million sprint added to the Olympic Games calendar in Los Angeles, for any athlete to approach the Phelps record would be a phenomenal realization.
100 meter female record: 10.49 seconds
Florence Griffith Joyner, known as “Flo-Jo”, had experienced glory in the 200m, winning Olympic money in 1984 and money at the 1987 world championships. But it was in 1988 that she became a world star, broke the 100m world record and crushing her personal record with American Olympic tests.

There has been a controversy on wind speed, which on the track read 0.0 but on the triple jump nearby was recorded at 4.3 meters per second, but the record was held and no one came near Californian, its world records at the 100m and 200m (21.34) still to date.
Elaine Thompson-Herah is the athlete to be closest to the 100m world record, the Jamaican with 10.54 in 2021.

The Golden Grand Chelem calendar
In 1988, Steffi Graf, then 19, had the best possible year in tennis. The German obtained the Golden Grand Chelem calendar, winning the four major tournaments – the Australian Open, the Open of France, Wimbledon and US Open – and Olympic gold the same year.
She is the only player in a single to have reached this feat, and her record is even more difficult to beat since the Olympic Games take place every four years.
NBA & NFL
Most points in a game: 100 points
One of the most emblematic photos in the history of the NBA is a black and white photo of Wilt Chamberlain posing with a piece of paper with 100 scribbles on it after its historic evening in March 1962.
There is no TV images The Chamberlain 100 points match for the Philadelphia Warriors against New York Knicks because many NBA matches were not televised at the time. In recent years, some have wondered if it had happened, which Athletics examined in This 2024 article.
Chamberlain established the three-point line record, which the NBA later introduced in the 1979-1980 season. He pulled 36 for 63 in the field and 28 for 32 of the fault line. That year, he also had an average of 50.4 points per game, helping to considerably increase the popularity of the NBA.
Marker of all time: more than 42,170 points
LeBron James is in his 22nd NBA season. The 40 -year -old spent more than half of his life in the league – and his longevity means that he even played alongside his son, Bonny James.
During these 22 seasons, he was one of the best players in the League – an All -Star and a leader in the stars and the score in 2008 in 2008.

His incredible sustainability and his abilities led him to become the marker of all the NBA on February 7, 2023, going beyond Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who held the record for 39 years. Including the playoffs, James is the first NBA player to score more than 50,000 points.
Its longevity is comparable to that of the wide receiver Jerry Rice. Rice, who played 20 seasons in the NFL, winning three Super Bowls with the 49ers of San Francisco, holds records for receptions (1,549), the reception of Yards (22,895) and Touché receptions (197).
Formula 1
Most of the podium finishing races: 231+
Having run in 231 Grands Prix to date, Nico Hülkenberg is one of the most experienced engines in the history of Formula 1. However, he has never had any finish among the first three.
Since he made his debut in F1 in 2010, the 37 -year -old has won points in the middle of the peloton for Williams, Force India, Renault, Racing Point, Aston Martin, Haas and his current team, Sauber.
During his long career, the capacity of “Hulk” to collect points made him a precious driver for the mid -table teams, but the closest that he arrived on a podium is three fourth place.
The youngest driver to score points: 17 years, 180 days
Someone who knows one or two about podium finishes is Max Verstappen. At the time of the publication, the quadruple world champion won 64 F1 Grands Prix races and is the youngest driver, the youngest point scorer and the youngest winner of the F1 history race.

The Dutchman won his first points at the 2015 Malaysian Grand Prix, finishing in seventh for Toro Rosso at his beginnings at the age of 17, 180 days.
It will be a difficult record to beat. In 2016, the Motorsport director of Motorsport, the International Automobile Federation (FIA), introduced a minimum age of 18 years in F1, although the rules have since been adjusted, allowing young people of 17 years to request a super FIA license, which the FIA will emit at its discretion.
