County of Fresno, California (KFSN) – In March, hundreds of college and secondary students presented their detailed research in the STEM field during the 72nd Fresno County Fair.

For the first time, Centerville Elementary participated in the Fresno County scientific fair of this year.

Their science teacher, Sandra Adame, says that providing this opportunity to her students is a big problem and is proud of their hard work.

Two seventh year students put Sanger Unified on the map with their impressive and detailed scientific projects.

“These students are incredible students. They are incredible human beings outside the class, so that does not surprise me to a extent that they are doing so well,” said Adame.

At the start of the school year, Adame awarded his students research projects for their choice and told them that they could go further by participating in the Fresno County Science Fair.

Twelve students took up the challenge, presenting their work at the Fresno Fairgrounds.

“From Ant Farms and how they are built on social media issues,” said Adame.

Two of them receive recognition and cash prices, including Diego Cano.

His project was on the cognitive effects caused by excessive exposure to social media.

He says this experience influences his future.

“I always wanted to be a history host, but with this project, I think I want to be a psychologist,” said Cano.

The second student is the son of Adame, Joel.

Adame says that even if it was difficult to sail in certain details of the scientific fair, the support was overwhelming, reminding her of the support she had formerly as a young student in Sanger Unified.

“I had incredible science teachers who had just opened the ability to think beyond what I thought was my limits. Knowing that we have so much support, I hope that is only the beginning of a new tradition here,” said Adame.

This weekend, the two students will go to Los Angeles with their families for the State Sciences Fair.
