Doctories ‘Wildfire’ takes the public on the front line – Okanagan

During the worst forest fire Season in the history of Canada, two former firefighters from British Columbia have adapted – not to join the fight but to film it.

Now Simon Shave and Clayton Mitchell are ready to release their Docuuteries into five parts, Forest fire, Filmed in 2023. The series immerses the strategies used to fight fires and tells the stories of people who risked their lives.

“We know the communications, we know what is happening on fires and we have all the security lessons, so thanks to this, we were allowed to really get unprecedented images,” said Simon Shave, co -director.

The duo approached the executive producer Kevin Eastwood of Optic Nerve Films to help bring the series to life.

“We could not expect when we undertook this project, that it would be the worst season never recorded, for the covered area and also the lost lives,” said Eastwood.

One of these fires, the McDougall Creek forest center, destroyed nearly 200 houses and burned 13,500 hectares in the center of Okanagan.

“I was blown away by the number of people (of) of the community presenting themselves and presenting themselves to make donations and help people,” said Eastwood.

“I think we can all use more stories like that and see that people usually want to help each other.”

Their efforts are ready to light the screens via the knowledge network on April 29.
