THE City of Saskatoon is “to breathe” to reassess its tent agreement with the American company OVG360, a key fund for the next arena of the city.
The city adopts “an approach to waiting and to see here with regard to the place where things go with the trade war, the prices and if that will have an impact on the agreement,” said Dan Willems, director of technical services for the city of Saskatoon.
In the original forecasting agreement, written in the summer of 2024, the company agreed to manage the installation and help finance the project up to $ 170 million throughout the 25 -year agreement.

However, the price is hung in the balance, the city says that this pause on the agreement should not affect the overall calendar of the arena.
“We know that it will take several years before the financing plan met, with the support of other government orders,” said Willems. “It is unlikely that this has an impact on the overall calendar of the arena. We do not have a fixed schedule yet because we do not have an assembled financing plan. ”
Although planned to take several years, the Downtown Saskatoon Business Improvement District is happy to hear that everything is on the right track.
“Part of the reason why (companies) renew their leases, are more investing, is due to this vision of what the city center will look like,” said Shawna Nelson, executive director of the Downtown Saskatoon Business Improvement.
Nelson remains a great defender of the revitalization of the city center of the city and hopes that the impacts of the south of the border do not slow down other projects to come, so that the city can continue to advance on its promises.
“If you take a look at the city center development plan, it will really be something that revitalizes our city center, giving confidence to our business owners and our owners to continue what they considered a long-term vision,” added Nelson.
