The city of Vancouver is testing a new one -way traffic plan in order to reduce vehicle conflicts in an area regularly flooded with tourists and pedestrians.
The one -way pilot will affect Place du Canada Between the Howe and Burrard streets in mid-April to December.
This decision was responsible for the season in charge of summer cruise ships, which sees hundreds of ships disgorging more than 1.2 million passengers in the region each year.
The City believes that the implementation of one -way traffic will reduce the number of points of pedestrian vehicle conflict, will stimulate the safety of people who come and come from the cruise terminal and accelerate bus, taxi and vehicle traffic in the region.

As part of the plan, vehicles will have to enter the Howe Street area and go out via the Burrard or Thurlow streets.
The signaling will be installed in the region to inform the drivers of the modifications.
The city says that if the pilot is a success, the new unidirectional zone could become permanent.
