North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was photographed by inspecting new suicide drones, which, according to state media, have been equipped with artificial intelligence (AI).

The undated images published by the Official Korean Korean Corenarity Agency (KCNA) of the secret state show Kim flanked by managers on a track inspecting a drone.

Kim accepted a plan to extend the production of the equipment, added KCNA.

Analysts said that the development of technology was probably assisted by Russia, which North Korea recently supported by sending its soldiers to help the Moscow War in Ukraine.

James Patton Rogers, Executive Director of Cornell Brooks Tech Policy Institute and Drone Expert, agreed that the attack drone was proof of the “fruits” of the increasingly close ties that the two falsified in recent years.

North Korea initially revealed the existence of drones – also known as blur ammunition, which crashed on targets with their built -up warheads – in August 2024. At the time, KCNA declared that Pyongyang would work “proactively” to “introduce an artificial intelligence technology” in arms.

Patton Rogers said that “should be a concern for South Korea and the international community” that Pyongyang was now developing such capacities.

“North Korea very clearly depends on a drone future for its soldiers,” he told the BBC.

“The question is whether these algorithms are fairly robust, sufficiently secure, sufficiently advanced to make decisions that do not degenerate the delicate security situation on the Korean peninsula.”

He said Russian assistance probably went to the development of the drone.

In addition to the drone, Kim also revealed what is considered the country’s first aerodynamic alert aircraft.

Closer to a commercial plan, these planes use a radar to provide an aerial overview of an combat zone.

South Korean officials said it would take more time to assess the effectiveness of aerodynamic aerodynamic aircraft from Pyongyang.

Internal devices and components can have links with Russia, the joint director of chiefs of staff Lee Sung-Jun said on Thursday during a briefing.

Kim Jong One is accused of having provided weapons to Russia, while Vladimir Putin gives North Korean space technology that could help their missile program.

In June of last year, Putin and Kim signed an agreement promising that Russia and North Korea Help mutually in the event of “assault” against one or the other country.

Last month, the South Korea intelligence agency said North Korea had sent more soldiers to Russia And restarted others on the front line in the western region of Kursk where Ukraine has launched an incursion of lightning.
