Greenwood, ind. – UNC Asheville, Women’s basketball students Dakota McCaughan And Skylar Bailey Won the All-District® academic honors by College Sports Communicors, announced by the organization today (Tuesday 25 March).
This marks the second consecutive year that Asheville’s women’s basketball had several people winning academic honors from all districts.
To qualify for honor, students-athletes must be at least one second year student athletically and academically, maintain a cumulative weighted average of 3.5 and also appear in 90% of the competitions in their team or start in at least 66% of competitions.
McCaughan appeared in the 31 games this season, making 28 departures and on average 29.5 minutes per match. She finished third in the team with an average of 9.0 points per game and was also tied for the conference in three points per game at 2.2. McCaughan obtained her first honor as a player from the Big South South Conference Week on December 2, 2024 after a 29 -point career summit on a career summit of eight three points in the state of Tennessee, marking the seventh higher score performance in a single match of the Big South Conference this season. McCaughan also has an average of 2.9 rebounds per game, 3.0 assists per game (fifth of the conference) and 2.2 interceptions per game. McCaughan was also appointed to the All-Academic team of the Big South Conference 2024-25. On the academic level, McCaughan has a cumulative weighted average of 3.55 in sociology.
It is the first academic honor in McCaughan career. She is from Secane, in Pennsylvania.
Bailey has played 30 games this season by making 23 departures and on average 21.4 minutes per match. Bailey also collected an average of 4.6 points per match, 1.5 rebounds per game and 1.1 assists per game with 22 interceptions and eight blocks. On the academic level, Bailey has a cumulative weighted average of 3.74 in health sciences.
This is a first university honor of Bailey career. She is from Vienna, GA.
