Moore was a bass player, guitarist and singer. Its influence has spread from afar because it was well known for mentorship and inspired several musicians from the region.

“It’s great for the city center,” said the owner of Bux Kajun Korner, Melissa Buxton. “It’s great for the community and for people who knew Brian, people who do not know Brian (and) people who do not know what it is, but they discover what it is and what the festival does to help young musicians and keep Brian’s name.”

Buxton says that she welcomed several artists to perform in her business, including Jim Taylor, Doc Wilder, Ronnie Fruge, Jarius Daigle and more.

“We have just had a guy from Westlake High School who appeared and sang a song for us,” said Buxton. “You can also catch him Mr. Caden on April 17 in Tarzan at Westlake High.”

This year’s festival launched a scholarship, which will be given to Sulfur High School, who was Alma Mater de Moore.

Sulfur High School Jazz Band and Show Choir, Barbe High School Show Choir, Jay Ecker Trio also played for the crowd.

Caden McCardle is a senior at Sulfur High School and member of the group.

“We are just here having fun seeing all our hard work and playing for the public and it is very fun because we see everything we do and we can share with everyone the culture of Louisiana,” he said.
