THE trade war Between Canada and the United States, threatens to slow down the flow of famous Canadian export – maple syrup – and equipment used to manufacture what is often nicknamed liquid gold.

“We could not do maple syrup Without Canada. These are the kings, ” Vermont Maple farmer Jim Judd told Global News.

“Everything we have is Canada.”

US President Donald Trump price threaten to suffocate production and upset decades of cross -border cooperation in industry.

“It is a mutually beneficial relationship. We take a lot from this partnership with the Canadians and we want to keep it like this. The prices are annoying, “she said.

He and his partner, Donna Young, direct Judd’s Wayees Farms to Morgan, Vermont, near the Quebec border, and depend entirely on their neighbor in the North for manufacturing and storage equipment.

“There are mornings when I wake up and I’m going,” really? ” Does it really happen? And I think Canadians have to think the same, “said Young.

Prolonged uncertainty threatens to hinder the maple season and could cause price increases and shortages on the shelves of American grocery store, says Hope.

“American consumers are used to going to any market, with any larger channel in the United States and seeing pure maple syrup on the shelves,” she said.

“We don’t want to lose what we started to build.”

Prices on maple products and manufacturing equipment could also wear a large blow for Canadian companies.

Canada’s maple syrup industry is a billion dollars with around $ 376 million in the United States in 2023.

“It’s weird because you never think of (maple syrup) as political. But suddenly we are caught,” said Young.
