Astronauts from NASA Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams Arrived on earth Tuesday after living in space for nine months longer than expected.

The Dragon Spacex spacecraft wearing Wilmore, Williams, its colleague astronauts from Nasa Nick Hauge and Roscosmos Cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov – known as Crew -9 – landed in the Gulf of America near Tallahassee, Florida, with SpaceX Crew quickly recovering and the sound and sound.

The return of the crew-9 had been inaugurated by NASA and SpaceX sending a new crew of four people to replace them at the International Space Station (ISS) during the weekend.

Wilmore and Williams both scored 286 days in spaceSignificantly longer than about a week that they were at the origin supposed to spend on the ISS when they arrived via Boeing Starliner in June from last year. Meanwhile, The Hague and the Time of Gorbunov in space rose to 171 days.

With Crew -9 back on earth and new astronauts that lead the ISS, questions about the amount of money that NASA astronauts earn on the orbit research station appeared – and if Wilmore and Williams could have an upcoming additional salary, given their prolonged passage in space.

“When NASA astronauts are on the international space station, they receive regular wages from the 40-hour work week. They do not receive overtime or vacation / weekend,” NASA spokesperson in Fox Business said.

NASA astronauts wages was more than $ 152,000 last year, NASA web page said.

NASA spokesperson said transport, accommodation and meals are provided for NASA astronauts because they are “on official travel orders as a federal employees“During his stay in space.

“They are also on long-term TDY (temporary service) and receive the accidental amount for each day in space,” also spokesperson for Fox Business. “Accessory expenses for travel to any place is currently $ 5 a day.”

This accidental rate would probably be equivalent to $ 1,430 for Wilmore and Williams.

The long stay of the pair at the ISS came after NASA and Boeing ended up deciding that the Starliner who brought the pair to space would make an unmanned return to earth in early September so that they can “continue to collect test data” on the spacecraft while he has traveled his back “while not accepting more risks than necessary for his team”, according to NASA. Starliner had known “helium leaks” and “problems with the control of reaction propellers of spacecrafts” while he was getting closer to the ISS during his trip in June 2024, the space agency said at the time.

Wilmore, Williams and The Hague have completed more than 900 hours of research at the research station which orbits around 250 miles above the earth.

“We are delighted to have Suni, Butch, Nick and Aleksandr at home after their mission of several months which leads vital sciences, technological demonstrations and maintenance aboard the international space station,” said the acting administrator of NASA, Janet Petro, in a press release on Tuesday.

CEO of SpaceX Elon Musk reacted to the return of Crew-9 during an interview with Sean Hannity.

“I am generally a little nervous about these yields because there is always a risk that something could go wrong, but thanks to the excellent work of the SpaceX team working with NASA, astronauts are now at home safely,” he said.

Trump previously declared to “the angle of Ingraham” Laura Ingraham that he wanted to meet the astronauts after their return after having had time to recover.

“They have to improve. It’s going to be a little difficult for them. It is not easy, you know they were up there for a long time, and when they will, they will come to the oval office,” he told him.
