Spring is in the air, as is excitation to Cox Science Center and Aquarium! In the coming months, guests are invited to “get into science” when they experience practical activities, breathtaking experiences and outdoor adventures that make learning fun.
“This period of the year is always incredibly exciting for the guests of the center,” said chief of the farm Carla Duhaney. “Every day, it is a treat to inspire curious minds of young people through practical experiences and learning activities that look like an adventure for each visit.”
Spring holiday camps are making a comeback this month. Young scientists and engineers aged 5 to 12 can anticipate sessions in charge of engaging lessons, laboratories, crafts and outdoor activities led by scientific educators. March 24-28: Anatomy of US ALL (Science Adventure Camp, 5-6 and 7-12 years old).
March 24-28: Robo-League: The Climb (Tech Camp, 7-9 and 10-12 years old).
March 31: Seeing is to believe (Science Adventure Camp, aged 5 to 6 and 7-12 years old).
April 18: under the weather (camp of scientific adventures, aged 5 to 6 and 7-12 years old).
May 26: Piloting School (Scientific Adventure Camp, 5-6 years and 7-12 years old).
Every two Saturdays, adolescents of the science center are offered to adolescents aged 14 to 17. This new program aims to present and encourage adolescents to explore the STEM fields. Adolescents will have the opportunity to work on different activities, including solar telescopes, contact tanks and animal enrichment. Students will develop their public speaking skills, will make new friends and have the potential to save community service hours. In April, the customers of the Science Center can learn more about how they can do their part in a healthy life, sustainable initiatives and environmental conservation. On April 5, CSCA will organize its E4 Life: Green Health & Wellness Expo in partnership with the West Palm Beach sustainability office. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., guests are invited to go green for the 12th annual exhibition with environmental workshops, gifts, fun exhibitors and more. The event aims to provide lessons on sustainability, conservation and useful advice on the way of living a healthier and greener lifestyle. For more information. Made to present the brightest conceptions is the 38th “IT engineer!” competition. On Saturday April 12, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., students between the first and 12th year can show their engineering skills during this annual competition for the engineering design sponsored by the Florida Engineering Society, Pratt & Whitney, Florida Power & Light and Smith Currie Oles. This year’s categories include the creation of the perfect egg container to protect an egg from a three-story fall, building the perfect paper plane and building a boat that works on solar energy, to name only a few. The Cox Science Center and Aquarium is located at 4801 Dreher Trail North in West Palm Beach and offers more than 80 practical educational exhibitions, an aquarium of 10,000 gallons, a digital planetarium and an outdoor scientific path.
The current travel exhibition, Dinosaur Safari: A Walk-Through Adventure, will be exhibited until April 27.
The general admission for adults is $ 26, $ 22 for children aged 3 to 12, $ 24 for people aged 60 and over and free for children under 3 and CSCA members.
