Governor Newsom continues to support Los Angeles Business, fire recovery workers with funding, awareness of safety in educational labor work

California Labor & WorkForce Development Agency (LWDA), Department of Industrial Relations (DIR), California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal / Osha), California State Labor, and representatives of Los Angeles Community organizations (CBOS) will publish 25 million dollars of funding for the CWOP Support 89 community organizations through the state.

CWOP is a DIR partnership with CBOS to provide essential information on workplace protections, labor rights and health and safety measures for high -risk industries. The awareness -raising work will help inform workers and companies of vital health and safety protections, risk prevention and other workers’ protections for people and companies helping Los Angeles to clean and rebuild.

Today’s actions are based on several efforts through the State to support workers and companies that help the Los Angeles community to recover and rebuild.

And California has worked with local communities and federal and local suppliers to help companies and workers in many ways, in particular:

  • Support workers and employers: the Employment Development Department (EDD) supports workers with unemployment,, disability insurance, or Family leave paid Advantages, including Unemployment aid in the event of a disaster (DUA) For those who are not eligible for regular unemployment benefits. The Governor has taken measures to extend the payments to pay tax and declaration requirements – a decision that has helped thousands of companies in the Los Angeles region. Employers may request an extension of 60 days on reports and taxes on payroll, or participate in Labor sharing program.
  • Field advisers for small businesses: more than 200 business advisers from small businesses help answer questions about economic recovery, loan request processes, insurance, employee support and workforce and business planning.
  • Provide resources for recovery: Calosba has launched a Resource guide for small businesses affected by forest fires through its Overmart disaster website.
  • Financial assistance for companies: the California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank (IBANK) Loan programs help companies from one to 750 employees affected by fires. Rescue loan guarantee program in the event of a disaster (DRLGP) issues loan guarantees up to 95%.
  • Accelerate the licenses of entrepreneurs: the entrepreneur State Licensing Board (CSLB) quickly processes license requests to continue efforts to rebuild houses and businesses.
  • Helping fire survivors to rebuild safely: CSLB is also associated with state agencies to promote approved entrepreneurs in California for repairs or to rebuild their homes or businesses. CSLB’s Disaster Hotline 1-800-962-1125 and online Disaster Help Center also provided precious support to survivors.
  • Protect against license without license: the survey teams informed the public that it is a crime to contract without license in a scaled area in California, exhorted consumers forever Check the licenses Before hiring an entrepreneur and recommended to immediately report any unauthorized activity by lodging complaints to www2.cslb.ca.gov.
