(Warning: The following contains MAJOR spoilers for the Blue blood series finale, “End of Tour.”)

Blue blood is finished. THE CBS procedural concluded 14 seasons of storytelling with a tense episode that brought together the entire Reagan family and their allies on the same case, which led each of them to take stock of their lives.

In “End of Tour”, deadly chaos spreads throughout the city after a Supreme Court justice is assassinated and NYPD officers (including Eddie and Badillo) and the mayor have been targeted in a series of coordinated attacks orchestrated by New York’s United Gangs. They demanded amnesty for the release of their imprisoned members and others awaiting trial. The judge is not the only one to have died in the violence.

Eddie (Vanessa Ray) and his partner Badillo (Ian Quinlan) were having a casual day at work when the shooting started. Eddie was shot, but his life was not in danger. Badillo, however, suffered serious injuries that led to his death, as some fans predicted based on the series’ final funeral photos. In a private moment in his hospital room, Mayor Chase (Dylan Walsh) told Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) to ignore the chain of command and metaphorically take the “keys to the city”. This was the mayor’s way of telling Frank to use whatever means necessary to bring these people to justice. He needed the New York Police Commissioner to act like a cop again, and that’s what Frank did.

Frank used the power of his office to interrogate imprisoned Lorenzo Batista (Edward James Olmos) during an unofficial interrogation. He was gathering information on Lorenzo’s son Alejandro, who was one of the people involved in planning the attacks. Frank told resistance fighter Lorenzo that life in prison is better than death for his son, saying he would give anything to have his eldest son, Joe (a cop who died on the job before the events of the premiere). series), or alive. even if it meant having to spend all her time with him during visiting hours in prison.

Danny (Donnie Wahlberg), Baez (Marisa Ramirez), and Eddie worked together to find Carlo Ramirez (Manny Perez), who previously had to flee the country but returned to seek revenge and get his daughter back. at Henri’s (Len Cariou) Danny’s advice for catching Carlo was also family-oriented: “Think like a father.”

Jamie (Will Estes) had family in mind as he worked to bring his wife’s shooter and Badillo’s killer to justice. His nephew, Joe (Will Hochman), help. And the idea of cops being targeted made Erin (Bridget Moynahan) feared she would lose another brother, so she worked with the New York Police Department searching for the attackers.

There were sad and happy endings in the episode. Badillo’s funeral was meant to be a demonstration of the sacrifices made in this area. There were some surprisingly romantic moments later in the episode, like when Erin and Jack (Pierre Hermann) decided to remarry. In a moment that was sure to be exciting for Danny and Baez fans, Danny kept his promise to his grandfather to go find love once this affair was over. He invited Baez out for pizza after the dust settled, telling him he was keeping a promise to his grandfather. The Reagan family’s final dinner saw the return of Danny’s two sons and Erin and Jack’s daughter, and Jamie and Eddie revealed they were expecting a baby. There wasn’t a dry eye around the table at the end of the series.
