British Colombians can expect to pay a little more about their hydroelectricity bills over the next two years.
The Minister of Energy, Adrian Dix, announced on Monday that the province would order BC Utilities Commission to set an increase in rate of 3.75% BC Hydro in each of the following two years.
“For average residential cleaning this year, which currently pays around $ 100 per month, it is equivalent to an additional $ 3.75 per month,” said ten.

Ten said this decision was aimed at ensuring “certainty and stability” in electricity rates in a variety of pressure on costs.
These include the payment of the BC Hydro capital plan at 10 years old, of $ 36 billion, the reimbursement of the CAB dam, the costs linked to the multi-year drought in British Columbia and the effects of inflation.

“This planned adjustment of rates will support critical investments in our system, allowing us to maintain our position as a leader in renewable energies while stimulating economic growth and creating jobs through British Columbia,” said the CEO of the hydroelectricity of British Columbia, Chris O’Reily.
Ten said that electricity rates in British Columbia remain the third lower in North America, behind Manitoba and Quebec, also major producers of hydroelectric energy.

He added that hydroelectricity rate increases remain 12.7% below the cumulative inflation rate since 2017.
“The adjustment of inflation, electricity in British Columbia is the same today as 40 years ago,” said ten.
The rate increases will take effect on April 1, 2025 and April 1, 2026.
The D -site dam should be fully online this year, increasing the province’s power supply by around 8%.
The province also announced that 10 new wind projects projected to feed a volume of electricity similar to the network at the start of the next decade.
