THE Birmingham black business census wishes to collect data on each company belonging to black blacks in order to better support these companies and entrepreneurs.

The project asks companies belonging to blacks to fill out a form and to count.

By collecting information on business income ranges, industries, the number of employees and the overall economic impact, managers say that they will be able to better understand companies belonging to minorities. And in the future, it will be easier to obtain resources and assistance to these companies.

“You really need an effort to bring people to share the data that matters in all kinds of conversation. We try to make sure that we get the commercial data we need, “said Autumn Sanders with Quire Consulting, which helps organize the census.

“Speaking in general in Birmingham, we are generally talking about small businesses,” said Sanders. “You cannot be a big business without being a small business.”

Without consistent and reliable data, companies belonging to blacks may be excluded from the wider economic strategy of the city.

“It is important that companies flourish because business is the way the streets are paid, the lights are handled and the positions are funded. All these things happen because people build growing companies … Birmingham’s success is only anyone’s affairs that ours, “said Sanders.

Local experts claim that to improve the economy of Birmingham, more support is necessary for employees and minority employers.

According to figures from the US Census Bureau, there were 2,653 minority employer companies in the Birmingham region in 2022, the last year of the available figures. Together, these companies produced $ 4.23 billion in annual sales.

Sanders said that entrepreneurs, small businesses and large companies should all complete the form.

“If your mother thinks you have a business and your best friend thinks you have a business, then you have a business.”

“If you live in Birmingham, if your business is physically in Birmingham and if your customers are in Birmingham, we ask you to finish the census,” she said. “It doesn’t matter whether the company is widely successful or not, it is not a question of finding the best. We want everyone to be counted.

To be included in the census, you can go there here And fill out the census form. The investigation will be opened until April 30.
