Friday, more than 50,000 South Koreans signed an online petition calling for regulations on local entertainment journalists who direct YouTube channels focused on the privacy of celebrities.
The petition, published on the Petition of the National Assembly petition on February 24, called on Parliament to introduce regulatory measures against malicious videos downloaded by reporters who have become YouTubers. These accounts were criticized for having caused an emotional distress on fire the actor Kim Sae-Ron.
The anonymous petitioner said that many entertainment journalists covered Kim at a “level close to the exchange”, and the videos on their YouTube channels, which raised baseless allegations against the young actor, continuously harassing her.
“After her driving incident in a state of drunkenness, Kim stayed at home to think about her misdeeds. But his private life has been unearthed without his consent thanks to numerous YouTube channels for entertainment journalists, “said the petitioner,
“Legislators must propose measures to define basic qualifications for YouTubers and take measures to establish regulations concerning the videos they disseminate.”
Kim, better known for her role in the 2010 Korean film “The Man From Windhere”, was found dead at home in Seongdong-Gu, Seoul, February 16. She was 24 years old.
His career was considerably affected by a DUI incident in May 2022, after having crushed his vehicle in an electric transformer by the road border in the south of Seoul.
Kim’s father, the father who became the journalist who became the-you-youtuber Lee Jin-Ho, and other so-called “cyber-inauxes” for caused the tragic death of his daughter, while considering legal action against them, according to reports.
The petition obtained 50,128 signatures at 10:30 am and should be deliberate by a committee of the National Assembly. Petitions with 50,000 or more signatures must be officially examined. After the deliberation, a decision on the opportunity to put it in the plenary session will be discussed within 90 days.
