Prime minister Mark Carney asked for a Canada Plan exam to buy a F-35 fighter aircraft fleet.
The agreement with Lockheed Martin and the US government concerns 88 planes at a cost of approximately $ 85 million each.
A spokesperson for the Minister of Defense, Bill Blair, said that Carney asked Blair to wonder if the F-35 contract is the best investment for Canada or if there were better options.

Blair’s press secretary, Laurent de Casanove, said that the government must do its duties given “the evolution of the environment”.
The contract has not been canceled and Canada legally determined to buy the first 16 planes, said Casanove.
Carney became Prime Minister on Friday in the midst of a trade war with the United States and threats from US President Donald Trump to annex Canada.
