Three teams of Clemson Department of Construction and Real Estate Development won the first four in science and construction management competitions in 2025. One of them is now a repeated champion.
For the second consecutive year, the Clemson team trained by deputy professor Vivek Sharma won first place in the annual science and management and management of associated manufacturers and management.
In addition, a team of students trained by the Associate Professor and Acting President Dhaval Gajjar won third place in the Roofing Alliance student competition, and a team trained by assistant professor Jason Lucas took fourth place in the personalized home house competition for the National House Manufacturers’ Association.
Of the 22 students who composed the three teams, only one – Samuel Davis – was a member of more than one team, demonstrating the depth of talents in the science and management program for the construction of Clemson.

Construction management competition of associated manufacturers and entrepreneurs
Clemson’s victory at ABC construction management competition is not only their second consecutive championship but also the third in five years. The members of the basic team Will Dapp, Alexa Decarlo, Anderson Plyler and Charlie Rohaley presented the project with the support of the teammates Thomas Cartledge, Jack Smith, Austin Hart, Samuel Davis, Benjamin Reynolds and Brody Tyree.
“We felt pride and overwhelming excitement of confirmation that our success was more than simple one,” said Dapp.
According to the manufacturers and associated entrepreneurs, the competition forced each team to find management solutions to the same real world construction project. This year’s competition project was centered on the Miracosta College Health & Wellness Hub at the Miracosta College campus in Oceanside, California. The scope of the project includes a complete development of the site on the east side of the campus.
Clemson won teams from 34 universities.
Rohaley, a graduate elder, noted how competition helped him develop leadership skills when he began his career.
“He challenged me to think critically, to manage complex under pressure and to collaborate effectively with a team, essential skills to succeed in the construction industry,” added Rohaley. “This experience has also strengthened the critical importance of teamwork in the construction industry.”

COMPETITION OF THE ROOF ALLIANCE
The students of the associate professor Dhaval Gajjar finished third in the competition of the students of the Roofing Alliance, continuing a five-year sequence which includes two championships and three top-three. This year’s team members were Will Hamlin, Alyssa Owens, Samuel Davis and Tyler Brothers.
“The student competition helps our students live scenarios from the real world by bringing together a complete offers and a presentation in front of judges and industry professionals for the assigned project,” noted Gajjar.
The Clemson project for this year’s competition was focused on a Hotel Ambassy Suites project near San Antonio airport.
National Association of House Manufacturers Competition at Personalized Home
The Clemson team in the personalized home competition Nahb won fourth place over 32 teams, a new summit in its third year of participation.
“Participating in this, or in one of the other national competitions, is a fantastic learning experience for students and makes them more marketable for companies when they get their diploma and are looking for full -time job,” said Associate Professor Jason Lucas.
The competition project obliges students to spend a semester to develop a personalized house construction proposal which includes market analysis, financial analysis, design, construction management planning and more. The Clemson project was the “River Retreat Powder, Waterfront Lot 10”, a house offered of 5,900 square feet in the cache, a luxury housing community in northeast Colorado.
Students presented their work to a panel of judges at the International Manufacturers Show in Las Vegas.
“The companies that sponsor competition work on the real project and have gone through their own similar exercise in order to take them off,” said Lucas. “Thus, the judges of this company are very competent and familiar with what the students present.”
This year’s team was made up of Matthew Fischer, Thomas Kurtz, Vivian Nguyen, Jack Feffer, Will Henderson, Solomon Stallengarger, Thomas Dantzler, Oscar Hernandez and Hayden Lee.
