Mayor of Kelowna Tom Dyas expressed immense gratitude to the community as a whole at the start of the meeting of the board on Monday.

“Your individual messages and your wishes during this period meant the world for me and have greatly helped my recovery,” said Dyas.

Dyas returned to his duties as mayor after a serious fear of health five weeks ago.

“I am extremely, extremely grateful to be here,” said Dyas.

Dyas, who is in sixties, said he was driving Pandosy Street towards the Town Hall on February 4.

He was at a red light on highway 97 when he said he had sneezed twice.

While he said that nothing had been thought of, but when he reached the town hall, his condition deteriorated and he decided to go home.

He told Global News that he felt was different from everything he had ever known and even if he had already passed the hospital, he decided to turn around and go to the emergency room.

The decision to consult immediate medical care was potentially wild.

During his hospital, Dyas was diagnosed with a condition called dissection of the vertebral artery.

“These vertebrae directly at the back of my head separated and began to coagulate and they were able to face it right away,” he said.

Dyas added that he is still recovering and that he can take some time before he could attend all social events and commitments.

“The artery has not yet healed,” he said “it will take a little time to heal, but the headache light up and I get there.”

Country of the Mohini Singh country has echoed the feeling.

“Really happy to see him again,” said Singh. “He looks healthy. He’s on his game.

Dyas hopes that sharing his story serves as an important reminder to never ignore strange symptoms.

“Listen to your body,” said Dyas. “If you browse an experience and think that something is wrong, then have it checked.”

The mayor of the first mandate also declared that the event had changed his vision of life.
