A team of researchers from the University of Beijing claims to have broken the performance limits of fleas and proven that China can use new materials to “change track” in semiconductor race by fully bypassing road dams.

The researchers, led by the professor of physical chemistry Peng Haillin, declared that their self-controlled 2D transistor could operate 40% faster than the Intel and the tip of TSMC 3 nanometers silicon chipswhile consuming 10% less energy.

“This is the fastest and most effective transistor of all time,” according to an official declaration published last week on the PKU website.

“If flea innovations based on existing materials are considered a” shortcut “, then our development of transistors based on 2D materials is like” changing “”, Peng said in the press release.

“Although this path was born out of necessity due to current sanctions, it also forces researchers to find solutions from new angles,” he added.

According to Peng and his team, their Bismuth -based transistor has surpassed the most advanced comparable devices of Intel, TSMC, Samsung and the Belgian Interuniversity Microelectronics Center, when placed under the same operating conditions.
