William Boyle ’55, MBA ’56, offered an important gift to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) to support the renovations of the Plant Sciences building – the biggest gift so far in the current university campaign.

“Cornell was a keystone in the success I appreciated in life,” said Boyle. “At this stage, with global warming, mass migration and hunger concerns in news and in our daily lives, I think it is important to support the efforts of people who work to solve these problems.”

“Plants and floors are at the heart of the many world challenges faced by people and the planet,” said Benjamin Z. Houlton, the dean of Ronald P. Lynch de Cals. “Our plant scientists continue to pioneer scientific breakthroughs, genes with biomolecules, whole ecosystems and earth. This work leads to new economic opportunities for New York State – and around the world – thanks to the creation of new factories, small businesses, public -private partnerships and programs based on the centralization of the Cornell land grant mission. This generous gift from Bill Boyle will obtain for the next century our heritage of excellence in plants from plants to the CAL, while we continue to take up larger and daring challenges together. »»
