The gondola full of passengers falls to the ground at Kicking Horse Resort

A scary accident at Kicking Horse Resort Near Golden, British Columbia occurred this morning when a gondola on the Golden Eagle Express of the station fell on the ground while several people were inside.

In a press release on its website, the owners of the ski resort, the seaside resorts of the Canadian rocky, said that the incident had occurred at 9:20 am and that the station’s patrol team and the first stakeholders were quickly sent to the scene.

Many photos published on social networks show a gondola car located on the side near the base of the elevator and a crowd of people gathered around him.

Skier Geoff Colenut said he had just arrived for a day of skiing when the accident occurred.

Colnut says he spoke to a few people who were in the gondola when he fell. Fortunately, they only had minor injuries and were in a good mood.

Another skier, Ryan Nichols, who was in another gondola stopped further on the mountain, said that the rescue teams had also been called to help people out of other gondolas who were suspended above the ski slope – with some people who need to be saved by helicopter.


Nichols, who was already waiting for almost four hours to be rescued when he spoke to Global News, said: “We can watch them climb on the gondolas below us and lower people with the gondola rope. We are good means on the ground, like probably more than 100 feet (30 meters) – we hope to get a Heli -Evac. »»

RCR confirmed that mountain maintenance and safety teams were working to unload other passengers.

The complex said that the complex will be closed for the rest of the day and that an inspection is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
