The Georgia legislature was occupied during this session, and the Chamber recently adopted two bills linked to the City of Cleveland.
The two bills aim to authorize the municipal court to invoice technology fees and provide a new charter to the city.
Technology costs will be a supplement of each criminal fine paid and will be fixed by the court judge but will not be able to exceed $ 10
The funds will be maintained by the city’s financial director and the court clerk separated from the other funds in the city, and could be used to reimburse the city’s technological service for the services or the police service.
As for the new charter, the Cleveland municipal council adopted it in January but needed the general assembly to approve it before it takes effect.
Cleveland has not updated his charter since 2013.
The city has kept all the powers of the company it had in this charter, many changes being based on the label, such as the administrator of the city changing as a municipal director.
The two bills, Bill 591 and 592 of the Chamber, were sponsored by representatives of the Stan Gunter (R-8) and Will Wade (R-9) State and adopted the Chamber on February 27. The Senate has read and referred the two bills.
