One day after declaring that Canadians were “annoyed” with the annexation and price threats of American President Donald Trump, the Prime Minister of British Columbia, David Eby, made the message to an American audience.

Eby appeared on ABC News Live today Friday morning, where Anchor Morgan Norwood asked for his response to Trump’s repeated statements on the realization of Canada on the 51st state.

“It is the most offensive and ironically unifying message that the president has transmitted to Canadians. We are upset. We are more united than we have ever been. It is a serious insult to us, ”said Eby.

“We know that the president in the back -rooms with Canadian officials said he wanted to redraw the border – completely unacceptable. If this president wants to annex Canada, he should save his breath to cool his soup, this will never happen. »»

A large part of the six -minute segment has seen Eby speak directly to American companies and consumers to hammer the message that Trump’s prices strike them in the wallet.

Eby said British Columbia would not back up his answer until Trump withdraws his pricing threat, and that his continuous view was just as prejudicial to both sides.

“It’s total chaos, it is one day at the next. One day, it is 25% on everything, the next day, they are only articles under the trade agreement, there are distinct rates on steel and aluminum, and now this speech on reciprocal rates, “said Eby.

“No matter if the prices are set up. The uncertainty for a Canadian company is the same it will be for an American company: what will be the cost of our electricity? What is the cost of our natural gas and our aluminum and our wood? »»

Eby underlined the “American car manufacturers, who are highly integrated through the border, who warned that their business would be devastated by prices.

Trump implemented a size of a month on these prices.

But Eby said that even with this measure, American car manufacturers are still affected by other steel and aluminum rates that Trump has imposed.

“Why would it be for you to take a manufacturer in the United States who uses aluminum made in British Columbia and that you have to pay 25% more for this aluminum, but everyone in the world does not have to pay these 25%?” He said.

“Suddenly, you are less competitive.”

Eby continued to tell the American public that Canadians do not want to fight with the United States and have deep historical ties-noting that its own family has emigrated from Pennsylvania and that it still has nieces in the United States

But he said Canadians now feel the need to be less dependent and integrated into the United States, no more.

“We do everything we can to detach ourselves from the United States, to move to other markets, to move away from the whims of a person in the White House,” said Eby.

“The fact that we are doing everything we can to get away from the United States at the moment is absolutely horrible.”
