Latvia strengthens its defense capacities with the development of high -speed interceptor drones

Latvia has awarded a research and development contract (R&D) to Original roboticsA defense technology startup, for the development of a high -speed interceptor drone. The initiative is part of the wider strategy of the country aimed at building a multilayer (C-UAS) air system and improving national security against emerging air threats.

Reinforcement of the Multi -Condition Defense of Latvia

The contract is part of a broader investment by the Latvian Ministry of Defense in modern defense solutions. In addition to the robotic origin, other companies have been selected to work on electronic war and the development of guided missiles. These investments reflect Latvia’s commitment to counter the growing threat of drones in modern war.

Drones have become an essential tool in military operations, offering low -cost but very effective recognition and attack capacities. However, the fight against these threats is an important challenge. As part of the agreement, Origin Robotics will develop a interceptor drone designed to neutralize airport threats with rapid evolution. The drone will be independent and profitable, offering rapid deployment capacities to counter munitions and hostile drones.

A collaborative investment approach

The project will follow a co -financing model, with shared funding between the Latvian Ministry of Defense and the original robotics. As a general rule, contributions from the Defense sector represent 65% of investments, while industry partners provide the remaining 35%. This model reflects an increasing trend in the defense sector in Europe, where public-private partnerships stimulate innovation and accelerate the development of new technologies.

With military threats evolving faster than traditional defense supply cycles, this financing approach guarantees that new solutions reach the battlefield more quickly and at a lower cost. Collaboration aligns government priorities with industry expertise, promoting a more agile and reactive defense strategy.

Industry expertise in autonomous air combat systems

Agris Kipurs, CEO and co-founder of Origin Robotics, underlined the importance of counter-drone technology in modern war. “While unmanned air vehicles reshape modern war, effective countermeasures are essential. This contract reflects the trust of the ministry in our expertise in autonomous air combat systems and validates the capacities that we have demonstrated with our solutions deployed. The Latvian mod has told us to develop a crucial C-Uas capacity, and we appreciate the opportunity to take up this challenge and contribute to strengthening the defense of Latvia. »»

Origin Robotics has already established itself in the field of autonomous air combat systems. Its flagship drone, Beak, is currently in service with the Ukrainian army and two NATO countries in Europe. Society remains focused on the development of new generation defense technologies that deal with evolving battlefield threats and support security efforts across Europe.

Advance European defense capacities

The Robotics Robotics contract highlights the proactive approach to Latvia to improve national defense. By investing in innovative counter-drone solutions, the country aims to effectively strengthen its ability to effectively counter air threats. While unmanned systems continue to reshape modern war, progress in interceptor drone technology will play an essential role in ensuring national and regional security
