The prize recognizes health educators at the start of their career who distinguished themselves by leadership, creativity, participation in the profession and the practice of health education.

Elaine Auld Horizon prize is an incredible honor,” said Ruiz, who joined NMSU last fall. “This reaffirms my commitment to advance public health through culturally relevant nutritional interventions based on evidence. “Receiving this national prize for the promotion of health education is both an honor and a responsibility for me,” said Oneanwu. “This confirms the dedication and passion that I have towards the empowerment of communities to fight against disparities in health matters. This recognition strengthens my determination to have a significant impact on health promotion and serves as a motivation to continue to defend actions in health care. »»
Jagdish Khubchandani, public health professor in NMSU, appointed Ruiz and Onyanwu for prices.
“The double prices this year, and the coherent history of NMSU teachers and students are honored in national avenues, tells us volumes on research and practice linked to the health and social services in the NMSU,” said Khubchandani.
