It is estimated that up to 70 million people live with digestive diseases that can considerably disrupt daily life.

Health experts say that there are ways to keep your digestive system in check and help prevent diseases.

Experts say that having a healthy intestine can help digestion, metabolism and immunity.

“When intestinal health is good, our overall health is also generally good,” said Gail Cresci, a dietary researcher and intestinal microbiome at the Cleveland Clinic.

She says that many factors affect the intestinal microbiome, but one of the largest engines is your diet.

“What the intestinal microbiome prefers to eat are things that we, as host, cannot digest. And these are things like different dietary fibers, ”explains Cresci.

She says that includes fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds and fermented foods, such as yogurt. All this contributes to intestinal health.

According to Cresci, foods that can harm them include highly processed foods, those that are rich in fats and sugar, and those with a low fiber content.

Cresci says that having a healthy lifestyle also promotes intestinal health. She says that this includes adequate sleep, stress level management, exercise regularly and the maintenance of hydrates.

“All these things together help support intestinal health,” says Cresci.

Health managers say that other advice on better intestinal health include slower consumption, which can help you swallow less air and allow you to know better when you are full, take smaller meals to avoid this feeling of fullness and encourage digestion and limit the quantity you eat after darkness, because your gastrointestinal tract is the most active in the morning and day.
