An animated character in a new Disney + series triggers a conversation for a surprising reason: prayer.

The Pixar series “Win or Lose”, according to a Disney synopsis, “presents the intertwined stories of eight different characters while they are each preparing for their big championship softball – the unsafe children, their helicopter parents, even a love referee.”

In the first episode, a player named Laurie who struggles with the doubt of himself begins on the bench before a match, marking the first distinctly Christian character in a project linked to Disney in about two decades, according to News WDW Today, a website that closely follows the news on Disney parks and entertainment.

“Dear Celestial Father, give me a strength,” prays Laurie. “I have faith, but sometimes doubts slips.”

The animated series made the headlines recently when it reduced a transgender scenario before the release of the program last month.

“Regarding the animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children according to their own conditions and chronology,” said Disney spokesperson, who is the parent company of Pixar statement at the time.

Disney Projects with Christian References Aren’t New – “Snow white and the Seven Dwarfs,” “The Jungle Book” and “The Lion King” Are Just A Few Titles that include Biblical Themes – But some obifels have questioned that disney is trying to call Critics of diversity and inclusion Line with President Donald Trump’s Second Term Anti-DEI directives.

This week, Disney + also changed course on an animated series planned for a long time based on Tiana of “The Princess and the Frog” in 2009, which presented the first Disney black princess. Instead, the animation studio plans to develop a special -based special, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

CNN contacted representatives for Disney to comment.

In December, Chanel Stewart, the Trans actress who had been launched to express the trans character in “Win or Lose”, spoke with Deadline of the script for the script.

“I was very discouraged”, ” Said Stewart. “From the moment I obtained the script, I was delighted to share my trip to help empower other young trans. I knew it would be a very important conversation. Trans stories are important, and they deserve to be heard. »»

Bob Iger, the Disney CEO, recently signed a defamation trial that President Trump’s president against ABC News expressed his exercise in the cultural wars.

“The stories you tell must really reflect the public you are trying to reach, but this public, because they are so diverse … can be deactivated by certain things,” Iger at CNBC told April 2024. “We must just be more sensitive to the interests of a large audience. It is not easy.

The co-creators of “Win or Lose”, Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates, shared their thought behind the series.

“We knew from the start, we wanted to have all the characteristics of a Pixar – Humor, Heart and Creativity film,” the Pixar veterans said in a press release. “We came to the table also knowing that we wanted to tell the types of stories that we could not tell in a film format. Who included multi-protein, non-linear narorms and really push the tone to be more outside the box. »»
