Six intermediate schools and six high schools in the Comté d’Orange will go to 2025 Scientific Olympiad South Californiashould take place on April 12 in Caltech.
The competition brings together the most efficient teams of the whole state to present their skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
After months of preparation, the 12 teams obtained their place in the state competition according to their performance at Orange County Regional Sciences Olympiadwhich was organized by the Department of Education of the County of Orange and the University of California in Irvine. The regional event presented 75 teams and more than 1,000 students who participate in practical engineering challenges, a scientific problem solving and written assessments.
THE Lycée Division SAW TROY HIGH SCHOOL DEED FIRST PLACE, with Northwood High School, Orange County School of the Arts, Portola High School, University High School and Sunny Hills High School also getting finishes.
In the college divisionSierra Vista Middle School placed first, followed by the Orange County School of the Arts, El Rancho Charter School, Jeffrey Trail Middle School, Kraemer Middle School and Rancho San Joaquin Middle School.
“These students have been preparing for months, and their dedication and their enthusiasm were fully exposed,” said Zachary Pettitt, director of the OC regional sciences. “This year’s competition went well and clearly testifies to the incredible work of the OECD team, the UCI team and the many schools that participated.”
Scientific Olympiad tournaments work as academic meetings, competition students in 23 events focused on STEM covering subjects such as anatomy and physiology, engineering design, coding and experimental sciences. The program welcomes participants of public schools, in Charter and private, as well as communities at home.
The winning teams of the State Tournament will have the opportunity to participate in the National Tournament of Scientific Olympiads In May at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Meanwhile, younger students will have the chance to compete Orange County Elementary Sciences Olympiad The El Rancho Charter School takes place on May 3.
