The clinical condition of Pope Francis remains stable after Friday Episode of bronchospasm This caused vomiting and a sudden respiratory deterioration, according to a declaration from the press office of Holy See published on Saturday evening.

The 88 -year -old pontiff alternated between non -invasive mechanical ventilation and high -speed oxygen therapy, the Vatican press release said.

The medical updates indicate that the Holy Father remains without a fever without any sign of infection in his blood tests. Its vital signs, including blood pressure and heart rate, continue to be stable. The declaration also stressed that Pope Francis has maintained a healthy appetite and actively participates in breathing exercises prescribed by his medical team.

Vatican officials confirmed that the Pope had not known other episodes of bronchospasm. He remains “alert and oriented” and received the Eucharist on Saturday afternoon, after which he devoted time to prayer.

The declaration concluded by noting that “the prognosis remains reserved”, suggesting that doctors are still cautious about the pope’s recovery chronology.

The Holy See press office confirmed earlier in the day than, as for the two previous Sundays, the text of the Angelus will be distributed in written form tomorrow rather than delivered by the Pope in person.

According to Vatican sources, the pontiff’s breathing improves, although its global state remains complex. The situation concerning his pneumonia is described as stable.

Francis prayed for about 20 minutes in the chapel near his room on the 10th floor of the Gemelli Hospital in Rome, where he receives treatment. The pope would have remained in a good mood and was informed of the many prayers offered to him.

Other medical details may be available tomorrow, said Vatican sources.
