San Francisco – Jug’s store has been part of San Francisco for 60 years, but it could soon change.
According to the owner and director of operations, Mike Pirolo, they need a miracle to keep the business afloat.
The alcohol and spirits store has moved the locations four times in its history.
The most recent movement was supposed to be temporary, but it turned out to be much longer and more harmful than expected before because they were waiting for construction to their previous location ends.
During the four years that followed the move, business has dropped by 80%.
Priolo blamed a lack of pedestrian traffic on Pacific Street compared to Polk Street nearby in addition to a pandemic and a change in alcohol consumption.
“Once we moved the business, it was immediate,” Priolo said. “The first day, a month, we knew business in two.”
Priolo has been working at Jug Shop for 20 years. Before that, his father worked there in the 1960s before becoming a party owner.
Now, in their 60th year of activity, Priolo says they have exhausted almost all the options, so they launch a Mary’s hail.
The family hoped that the city would be able to help, but said that because of the current budget deficit, the funds for the inherited commercial aid are dry.
They therefore turned to Gofundme with a high goal of almost $ 500,000. At the last check, they had collected about $ 20,000.
Despite this, the disastrous situation is obvious as soon as you cross the doors.
The hot -watering hottie has now has more empty space than full.
Thus, the company that loved the city and its residents for decades turn to them to get help, in the hope that support will be enough to keep the store at home in San Francisco.
