The dean of the college of science and applied technology, Dr. Chad McEvoy, appointed Dr. Sherif Rashad as director of the School of Information Technology, from July 1.
Rashad is a computer teacher and coordinator of the computer program at Morehead State University. His leadership experience includes the function of coordinator of the IT program and president of the Computer Program Committee for the largest state state university, as well as its previous position as coordinator of the Academic Program of the IT engineering program of Florida Polytechnic University, where he was also a member of the Coordinator Council of the Principal. He is the first recipient of the Rebecca L. and Henry P. Conn scholarship from the University of Louisville Speed School of Engineering.
Rashad’s current research interests are resident in the fields of automatic learning, artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, cybersecurity, mobile security and behavior-based safety systems. He has received several research prizes and his research articles were published in international journals and IEEE conferences. He is the recipient of the price of quotation for the excellence of the DEAN 2023, the price of quotation for excellence in research / scholarship and the price of quotation for excellence in teaching quotation for excellence in education. He is three times recipient of the exceptional research prize (2012, 2014 and 2015) and the 2009 recipient of the Exceptional Education Prize of the Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Morehead State University. It was recognized by the president of Morehead State University and the University Board of Regents during the meeting of the Council of August 2019 as a member of the exceptional faculty for leadership, service and dedication to university.

Rashad received his doctorate. In computer science and engineering from the University of Louisville and its BS diploma (with honors) and MS diplomas in electrical engineering at the University of Zagazig, Egypt.
