Albany, Ga. (Walb) – The Junior League of Albany organized an event in order to teach children and their parents to make healthy lifestyle choices.

“Kids in the Kitchen” took place on February 22 in the Albany shopping center.

There were stations available for families to visit throughout the shopping center. A station was a kitchen class that demonstrated how to make easy and healthy snacks. Another station focused on bodily positivity and the importance of the exercise. A station even showed children how to plant vegetable seeds in a garden.

“I think our community really needs to support young people – helping them make good choices,” said Cat Saunders, one of the organizers of the event. “It is really easy for parents to sometimes choose unhealthy options. But I think we can all come together to promote a healthy diet and exercise.”

The people who came to the event said it was a pleasant surprise to see the busy shopping center. Some parents have said that Albany often has many events for young people. They said they were happy that the Junior League organized such a unique, beneficial and free event that was made available to all families in the region.

“The shopping center has not had many things lately, but it’s so great to see everyone go out with your children and grandchildren today,” said Christy Walker, who attended the ‘event.

Due to the success of this event and positive comments from the community, the Junior League of Albany says it is anxious to organize events similar in the future.
