Police said they are investigating after people have shouted racial insults, that someone pulled a swastika and another person exposed himself during a virtual meeting held by the city of Pickering.
Durham regional police said that the disturbing and motivated disruptions of hatred took place during a city zoom meeting on February 12.

Police said they had been informed of incidents two days later and that they did not identify the people involved.
A city spokesman suggested that he could not answer even fundamental questions about what the meeting was or how the city reacted, “so as not to risk prejudging the investigation.”
An article on the city’s website indicates that the staff moved an open day in person on climate adaptation to zoom in anticipation of a winter storm on February 12.
The police appeal to witnesses.
