The Council of Governors of the Postal Service plans to fight against any attempt to take control by the Trump administration, reported NBC, citing two sources knowing the council plans. Commerce secretary Howard Lungick, who was confirmed this week, discussed the plans with Trump in December to put postal service under the trade department, said one of the sources.

TThe Washington Post reported Yesterday, the president plans to dissolve the managers of the USPS and to fold him into his administration.

“We urge you to immediately abandon all the plans that would privatize postal service or undermine the independence of the postal service,” wrote the Democrats, led by the member of the Supervisory Committee, Gerald Connolly, D-VA., A.

“Any effort to privatize the postal service or move it to a department of executive agencies requires an explicit authorization from the congress, which the congress would not provide,” they added, pointing to article 1, section 8, of the Constitution , which gives the congress the power to establish post offices.

Democrats also warned that any effort to interfere with the independence of the postal service could hinder the agency’s ability to deliver mail and generate income.

“Your plans reported for the postal service would endanger the timely and affordable delivery of vital drugs, the postal postal bulletins, important financial documents and letters, in particular in rural or less profitable areas that the private sector refuses to serve “Wrote the Democrats.
