For the second time, liberal candidate in leadership Ruby Dhalla Asked the game to provide a “personal translator” for the next federal debate in French language, a week after the refusal of his first request.
The demand also comes because it calls for a recent report of the “false news” media on the question of whether there have been Indian foreign interference in its campaign.
In an interview with Global News, Dhalla said that she had made a new request a week ago for a “personal translator” but that she had not yet heard of the party.
Caucus members Say that it is “essential” for anyone who wants to direct the party – and become Prime Minister – to be able to speak directly with Canadians in both official languages.
“I do not believe that having a linguistic barrier, if you want to call it that, should prevent me from communicating my vision and sharing my message with so many Quebeckers and so many French Canadians across Canada,” Declared Dhalla.
Dhalla, who says that she learns French but who does not speak fluently, plans to participate in the next French language debate scheduled for Montreal on February 24. She plans to publish her declarations of opening and closing in French, despite the Liberal Party denying her previous translation request.
Party spokesman, Parker Lund, said that only candidates and the moderator will be authorized on the scene of the debate and that no translation will be provided.
Global News interviewed Lund on Dhalla’s new request, but has not yet received a comment.

Dhalla, who was a liberal deputy from 2004 to 2011, compared her translation request to be a new deputy.

“We have deputies who are elected who are not entirely bilingual,” said Dhalla.
“When they speak in English, we have a French translation that appears at the bottom of the screen and when they speak in French, you have the English translation that appears. So I think the same mechanism should apply. »»
Although there is a translation for deputies in the House of Commons and during meetings of the Committee, it is done by simultaneous translation via a headset and is not tapped or published on screens of the room.
Allegations of foreign interference
The Liberal Management candidate also responded to allegations of foreign interference.
The Globe and Mail reported Thursday that the Liberal Party has sent a list of questions to Dhalla raises concerns concerning any foreign interference from India and the so -called campaign irregularities.
Dhalla denied these allegations, described this story as “false news” and said that she could not provide specific details on questions from the internal party, but she confirmed to be approached by the Liberal Party.
“I cannot comment what these questions are. However, I can share that we replied and provided all the support documents that have been requested by the game, “she said.
Lund said in a written statement that the party did not reach out to Dhalla about foreign interference.
“We can confirm that none of the questions asked in the Dr. Dhalla campaign concerns the interference of a foreign government,” he said.

Dhalla also denied Globe and Mail pointing that the mayor of Brampton, Patrick Brown, former conservative deputy and leader of the Ontario party, had “behind the scenes” in his campaign and said that she thought that all candidates contacted Brown because he is mayor of a “very popular city.
“Patrick is one of my friends,” said Dhalla. “I do a lot of community work in Brampton and I spoke with Patrick, but he was in no way involved in my campaign.”
Although it is aware of certain flags raised on the donations made by six couples, Dhalla says that the situation has been rectified to comply with the rules of the Canada elections.
“They were asked to testify that they have a joint bank account for this particular credit card, and they did it,” she said. “Our campaign cannot control in a family with which the credit card they choose to make a donation, we can only make sure that they are in conformity and when we are informed of any type of problem, these are treated. “
The Minister of Public Security, David McGuinty, told journalists in Ottawa on Thursday that he was not aware of any allegation of foreign interference in the Dhalla campaign.
“I really have no insight or comment on this. This is a question that the Liberal Party has, “said McGuinty.
Earlier this month, a federal working group dedicated to monitoring foreign interference said that it had detected “coordinated and malicious activity” of a WeChat account linked to the Chinese government targeting the liberal candidate in leadership Chrystia Freeland.
