THE California Institute of the Arts (Calarts) launched the Dreams initiative (Digital Research Entertainment Arts Media Storytelling) Supported by a gift from Tom Dolan and the Dolan Family Foundation.

The initiative aims to prepare students for dynamic careers in the rapidly growing entertainment industry based on location (LBE) – the creation of unique immersive experiences designed to entertain and educate visitors.

The Dolaan Foundation was attracted by Calarts in part because the Institute was based on the principles of disruption of rigid academic traditions while adopting innovation, creative risk creation and experimentation. This program is one of the few of its kind in higher education, offering students unprecedented access to industry partnerships and practical learning experiences.

“Initiatives like dreams are essential to position our students for the careers of tomorrow,” said Ravi Rajan, president of Calarts, in a press release. “This is only the latest example of the way in which Calarts continues to show the way in the definition of the future of artistic, entertainment and immersive media industries.”

The key components of the Dreams initiative include:

  • Internships to paid students where students can gain practical experience with leading companies in immersive technologies and entertainment.
  • A venture capital fund that will allow students to present their ideas, develop business plans and secure start-up capital to bring their visions to the creative industries.
  • New micro-creation programs to provide students with targeted and relevant skills in terms of relevance by expanding access to CARTS educational programs.

“With the visionary support of Tom Dolan and industry leaders, the program promotes real -time collaboration between artists and professionals, as well as education and business,” said Rajan. “This will allow the next generation of students to think differently, push the limits and explore new mediums.”

Installed in the Patty Disney Center for Life and Work at Calartts, the Dreams Initiative will serve as an industry partnership platform, connecting Calarts students and teachers with real world projects involving immersive technologies.

“Experiential learning will shape the future of immersive engagement, which is crucial because the entertainment market based on location should more than quadruple in the next five years. There is no better house for dreams than Walt Disney has built, “said Travis Cloyd, a futuristic, in a statement.

Cloyd’s vision has contributed to the development of the initiative. The program, which will be strengthened by visiting speakers and teachers, including Cloyd and the director of the LBE, Voutcent Butta, will allow students to better explore, develop and evolve alongside emerging trends in real time in the space of entertainment.

“We believe in the power of creativity to shape the future,” said Tom Dolan, director of the Dolan Family Foundation, in a statement. “This initiative embodies our commitment to support the next generation of storytellers, artists and innovators who will have unprecedented access to new and evolving immersive technologies and technologies.”

The launch of this initiative is aligned with the long -standing commitment from Calarts to innovation and experimentation in art and technology, musical technology, design and production of experience and the media Interactive and continues the heritage, present since its creation, of the partnerships of the creative industry. The Dreams initiative will be officially launched in the spring of 2025.

California Institute of the Arts gave the rhythm of the education of professional artists since 1970. Offer rigorous undergraduate programs and higher education in six schools – art, critical studies, dance, cinema / video, music and theater – Calarts defended the Creative excellence, critical reflection and the development of new forms and expressions.

While the successive generations of teachers and former students have helped shape the landscape of contemporary arts, the institute envisaged and founded by Walt Disney includes a dynamic and eclectic community with global scope, an inviting experimentation, an independent survey and An active collaboration and exchanges between artists, artistic artistic, artistic disciplines and cultural traditions. Charles F. Dolan was the founder of HBO.
