Overbeck was one of the eight people enthroned, including Cedric Benson, Todd Dodge, Brittney Griner, Ed “Too Tall” Jones, Biz Mackey, Chris Plonsky and Richmond Webb.
Recently completed his 33rd season on Duke staff, Overbeck helped lead Blue Devils at the NCAA 29 times, including the apparitions of the NCAA Orlège Cup in 1992, 2011, 2015, 2017 and 2024.
Overbeck grew up in Richardson, Texas and attended Richardson high school. A former university football player herself, Overbeck won four consecutive national championships with the University of North Carolina.
In addition to her accomplished university career, Overbeck played for the American national women’s team from 1988 to 2000, playing in three women’s world cups and the 1996 Olympic Games where she was captain and led the team to a medal D ‘gold. During his professional career, Overbeck also won a Wusa League title in his time with the courage of Caroline and a W-League championship with the Wings of Raleigh.
In 1999, Overbeck was appointed Sports Illustrated Sportswoman of the year and was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2006.
