Breckenridge officials continue to analyze entertainment options for the city July 4 Celebrations with the intention of transforming more day visitors into night logers.
Based on the comments of the Council of a meeting of January 28, the members of the city staff returned with a revised proposal for part of the entertainment of July 4 of the city during a meeting of February 11.
Originally, the staff members suggested an exhibition of light show inspired by Firefly on a large scale by a Dutch artist called Spark. The studio that created the exhibition said to Summit Daily News That if the city goes through the idea, it will be Spark’s first in the United States. The officials did not completely abandon the idea of the four-day event, around $ 300,000, they thought it could be better suited to the Festival of Fine Arts in Breckenridge which was in mid-August rather than ‘to July 4.
A service note from the meeting of February 11 of February 11 still wants a kind of animation or entertainment offer after the July 4 parade to encourage visitors to stay.
Instead of the Spark exhibition, the Breckenridge event committee now offers what staff have described being a “circus based performance”. More specifically, the staff service note describes the plans for a “circus event on the theme of family bikes”.
Staff members have provided no context of knowledge that would organize performance -based performance.
Deputy Director of Leisure, Jon Dorr, said that staff members are looking for options for the range of $ 40,000 to $ 60,000 that will last around 50 minutes. The plan could involve setting up a scene at the corner of Main Street and Washington Avenue for a show at 8 p.m., according to the staff memo.

Marika Page, a member of the council, which was involved in the planning process, said that the calendar is strategic.
“An animation (3 p.m.) means that people could leave at 4 p.m. and go elsewhere,” she said. “An animation at 8 pm probably means that they are organizing accommodation that evening.”
This could cause a street closure for a Bloc on Street Main, some of which have expressed their concern because a section of rue Main will already be closed – As has been for many parades from July 4 of the city – from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Mayor Kelly Owens asked if the city’s public works department had the opportunity to weigh on the potential level, and staff members said that the department had not yet done so.

Dorr said that many auxiliary streets off the Main Street would remain open like Ski Hill Road, Lincoln Avenue and Adams Avenue.
The member of the Council, Dick Carleton, was worried about the implications for companies near the place where the temporary closure could be on Bloc 100 on rue Main.
“What I have heard for years for years (close to road closings related to the holidays) is that it is great for some and it is horrible for others,” he declared.
Municipal director Shannon Haynes said the city could organize something in the coming weeks to get comments from the business community.
When the council came for the council to vote on the concept of circus, Carol Saade, member of the council, said: “I do not feel ready to make a decision without public works (decisive) how it would change the weekend . “
The member of the council, Jay Beckerman, recommended the vote of the Council on the concept of performance based on the circus at the meeting of February 11, but not on the aspect of the closure of the street.
Owens said it wanted potential closure to be a community discussion. She wanted to know how long the Council had to make a decision on the concept of entertainment, referring to the feeling of staff members according to which a decision should be taken relatively if the city wanted to reserve the artists.
Breck Create’s chief executive officer Tamara Nuzzaci Park, who, through his organization, plays an important role in numerous entertainment offers sanctioned by the City, said that she has declared to the agents with whom she worked To guarantee artists “that we would have a decision today”.
“I don’t know the answer. I just think that we rush too quickly to this decision, “said Carleton, noting that he thought that a show in the afternoon would be better than a show at 8 p.m.
The Council ended the discussion unanimously voting to put $ 40,000 at $ 60,000 towards a “circus” performance of July 4. They did not vote on the potential closure of the street at the meeting of February 11, with many saying that they wanted more checks to be made before this decision was made.
The City still plans to welcome all of its usual activities of July 4 such as cycling and racing races, parade and performance of the National Repertory Orchestra.
