The Columbus Blue Jackets are delighted to associate with First Merchants Bank to recognize the small businesses of our community. Every month throughout the season, a company will be presented as the Small business of the month Presented by First Merchants Bank. The small business of the month of February is Cats only veterinary clinic.

Andrea Lukuch is a cat person.

In his work line, it means a lot.

Lukuch is the owner, the hospital administrator and the self -proclaimed chef Kitty Petter of Cats Only Veterinary Clinic, who serves our feline friends with locations in Columbus and Lewis Center.

Since Lukuch began at the clinic in 1996 and succeeded Dr Cynthia Bowlin as owner in 2016, being a cat person gave him a long way.

“(Dr. Bowlin) was like,” cat people want something different “, and I drank this Kool-Aid, and I realized that cat people were doing it,” said Lukuch. “Their cats are so special for them, and they realize that cats are just a different animal from that of a small dog, which many veterinary hospitals treat cats like. So, for over 35 years, we have been dealing with these precious little creatures. »»

The clinic also did it at a high level. Cats were recognized only as a practice suitable for gold cats by the American Association of Feline Practitioners in 2013 and landed on the list of the best workplaces of Columbus Business First each year from 2019 to 2024.

The mission statement of the clinic is that veterinarians and staff members speak meowing: they provide care, excellence, originality and an experience that is worth it.

“Customers want something better,” said Lukuch. “They want something different. They challenge us every day on what we can do to make their cats more comfortable. They want advanced technology. They want the best medication for their cats. And my team book. They want the best for our patients, so they are looking for excellence. They really speak meowing.

The services provided include standard veterinary care as well as behavioral advice, vaccinations and preventive care, surgery, dental well-being, diagnostic services, boarding and grooming and advice on claws. It is also only one of the three clinics of the center of Ohio which carry out radioactive treatment on iodine for cats with hypothyroidism.

Everything is supported by the decades of experience for the clinic – which opened in 1988 – and its veterinarians.

“They get the little guys – each movement of the body, each Twitch mustache, we know what the cat says,” said Lukuch. “It’s so rewarding. We know that when each member of our team goes to bed and puts their heads on the pillow, they know that they have done an excellent job today to ensure that the link between the owner and their cat is maintained. »»

Cats Only Veterinary Clinic was organized by the Blue Jackets in the team’s match on February 6 against the Utah hockey club, obtaining the opportunity to watch the club’s match and take a photo on the ice after The match.

And in case you wonder what Lukuch thinks of other animals, she is a fan.

“We love dogs,” said Lukuch. “We just don’t work with them.”
