The United States has asked European capitals what it could contribute in terms of security guarantees for UkraineFour European sources said on Saturday.
The sources said that the United States had sent a document asking questions that include any contributions to future troops, two of the sources adding that it had been sent earlier this week.
The Financial Times first said that Washington had asked its European allies to provide information on arms, peacekeeping troops and the security agreements they could provide to Ukraine.
“The idea is obviously to see how European allies see the possible framework of negotiations to end the conflict and the possible commitment of Europe and the United States,” said a European diplomat during the document.

It included six questions with one specifically for the Member States of the European Union, said a diplomat.
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy called on a European army on Saturday, arguing that the continent could no longer be sure of protection against the United States and would only make Washington respect with a strong soldier.
“The Americans approach European capitals and ask how many soldiers they are ready to deploy,” said a third diplomat.
The US State Department did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
