The researchers carried out a breakthrough in portable health technology by developing new self-careful electronic skin (E-Skin) which is repaired in seconds after damage. This could potentially transform the landscape of personal health surveillance.

In a study published in Scientific advancesScientists demonstrate an unprecedented progression in E -Skin technology which recovers more than 80% of its features within 10 seconds following its damage – a spectacular improvement compared to existing technologies which can take minutes or hours to heal.

Technology transparently combines ultra-fast self-healing capacities, reliable performance under extreme conditions, advanced integration of artificial intelligence and very precise health surveillance systems. This integration allows the detection of fatigue in real time and the evaluation of muscle strength with remarkable precision.

“This self-healing technology represents a fundamental change in portable electronics,” said Professor Yangzhi Zhu. “By making healing times of a few seconds rather than minutes or hours, we have overcome one of the main obstacles to the practical and daily use of electronic skin devices.”

Technology shows a particular promise in monitoring muscle strength and fatigue assessment, offering potential applications in athletics, rehabilitation and general health surveillance. Its ability to operate in various environmental conditions makes it particularly versatile for real use.

“What makes this breakthrough particularly exciting are its immediate practical implications,” notes Professor Ali Khademhosseini. “We have created a technology that not only survives daily wear, but continues to provide precise health surveillance, even under difficult conditions such as underwater environments. This durability opens up entirely new possibilities for monitoring of personal health. “

This progression takes up a critical challenge in portable technology – the need for sustainability in daily use. Traditional electronic skin devices often fail when they are scratched or damaged, limiting their practical application. The self-healing capacity of this new technology guarantees coherent and reliable health monitoring, even in difficult conditions.

The research team envisages applications ranging from monitoring sports performance to medical rehabilitation and daily health monitoring.
