Costco, Kroger and Whole Foods Among the growing list of grocers who put an egg purchase limit as the supply shortages persist.
Companies have started to impose limits on the product such as the shortage caused by highly pathogenic avian flu epidemics (HPAI), or bird flu, persists, causing a frenzy among buyers. Mass of viral videos have surfaced in recent weeks, showing that buyers store eggs. A published video On Tiktok, said that a whole section of eggs from a costco had disappeared in less than 10 minutes.
Whole Foods, belonging to Amazon, posted panels on its shelves by informing customers that customers can only buy three egg boxes at the same time.
“We are currently having difficulty looking for eggs that meet our strict animal welfare standards,” said a panel displayed in one of its stores in New York.
Trader Joe’s takes a head for the number of eggs that buyers can buy
Kroger confirmed to Fox Business that certain banner divisions also limit egg sales. In stores where limits are in place, the company asks customers to buy only two dozen eggs per travel, a spokesman for Fox Business said.
Trader Joe said Renard business Monday, he limits egg purchases to a dozen per customer, per day. The limit applies to each Joe commerce grocery store in the United States, according to the company.

Costco also confirmed to CNN that it limited customers to three egg packets.
Experts warned that egg shortages would continue while the epidemics of the bird flu continue to have an impact on the flock of peanhors.
Speaking with Fox Business, Bernt Nelson, an economist of the American Farm Bureau Foundation, estimated that more than 136 million birds have been affected by avian flu since 2022. In December, more than 18 million birds were been affected, which, according to him, have led “the naked grocery shelves in certain places and higher prices.”

Egg prices increased by 53% in January on an annual basis, the Department of Labor reported Wednesday. Prices increased by 15.2% compared to the previous month.
In 2025, the USDA predicted that egg prices, which can vary considerably from month to month, will increase by more than 20%.
