STEM means science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Rachael Hoffert, president of elementary education of Grace, said that students worked with small groups of girls to promote a love of science. Participants learn robotics, electrical circuits, coding and problem solving.
“Our goal in these partnerships with local schools is not only to teach education, but to build relationships and serve our community,” said Hoffert in a statement. “We believe that the best way to do so is collaborations like this who benefit teachers of teachers, certified elementary schools STEM and the students they serve.”
Avery Samms is one of the Grace students who volunteer with the club.
“This program creates a safe space for elementary girls to strengthen social skills and trigger interest in work mainly focused on men, ultimately reinforcing the confidence and self-esteem of our girls,” she declared in a press release.
She added that she also learns experience.
“I personally benefited from the exploration of different technologies and material linked to STEM, because we have learned to weave each of the components together to build more engaging and practical lessons for the real world,” said Samms.
