As crime rates continue to increase, the demand for private security is also done.

A local security company to which we spoke said that last year, their company almost tripled.

Like many companies in the region, the Verizon Wireless store in the Blue Ridge Crossing in Independence shopping center has known its just part of crime, bringing the real estate manager to hire a private security business.

SK Security was founded in 2016 and dessert Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas.

Cody Antrim is a sales representative of this Verizon store and has been working there for two years. He said there were a lot of activities on this band.

“There were people who were taking drugs just outside the store, just walking,” said Antrim. “I saw a strange activity taking place behind the garbage cans.”

Increased rates of real estate crime, police shortages and an increase in the population of homeless are some of the factors that have contributed to the increase in private security demand.

SK SECURITY said they helped fill the gap that other agencies cannot.

Patrick Sparks is the director of commerce for SK Security.

“The most important thing is emergency services,” said Sparks. “Many of our customers will call us and have an urgent need the same night or the next day when perhaps KCPD has no additional officer available, or other companies are unable to fill this on a notice Almost zero. But we can always find a way to get there. »»

But it is not only here, at the national level, other companies hire armed security agents. A report by the Security Industry Association has shown that industry has increased by almost 15% since August.

A popular functionality that SK Security offers is its mobile surveillance cameras.

“They can be much more profitable,” said Sparks. “They are easy to deploy and can be monitored remotely from anywhere.”

This includes their shipping center, which is monitored 24/7.

These are efforts like these that improved this shopping store.

“I have the impression that it helped much more because being here in general, I have not seen, I know that there are many people who wonder in this area, or who were walking in This area, I will be honest, I haven’t really seen anyone in the region, “said Antrim.
