Thousands of lawns remembered in Canada after fires in the United States – National

Spring is still in weeks, but for those looking at the lawns, Health Canada has a warning to keep in mind.

Thousands of battery-powered mowers are recalled in Canada after information, fire, fire and injuries in the United States.

Health Canada published the recall alert Thursday For several models of mowers without rope without brush without brush sold by the Japanese brand Ryobi which have been made in the United States.

“Recalled mowers have a push-On connector inside the current head that can overheat, pose a potential fire risk,” said Health Canada in the recall notice.

About 28,400 of the mowers were sold in Canada from February 2021 to January 2025.

In Canada, the company received an overheating report with a fire while the mower was used, but no injury, on January 24, 2025, said Health Canada.

In the United States, there were 96 overheating reports, including four fire reports and two minor injuries.

The models of affected mower models are: RY401014BTLUS, RY401014US, RY401140US, RY401015BTLUS, RY401015US, RY401150U 1327N99999.

Customers are invited to “immediately stop using the mowers recalled”.

They should also contact TTI Outdoor Power Equipment Inc. for instructions on how to deactivate the recalled product safely and obtain a free replacement, said Health Canada.
