After a national research, Elizabeth Mikula, MSN, RN, CPN, CPHQ, joins the VCU health system as vice-president of regulatory affairs, risk management and patient-centered services. She will start her new role on February 16.
In this position, Mikula will be responsible for the overall strategic orientation of VCU Health for accreditation and granting of regulatory licenses, risk management and patient -centered services. The role is responsible for ensuring that the health system complies with all complex health care regulations, effectively manages the risk and maintains a high level of patient experience and service cultivation in accordance with the mission and The vision of the VCU health system.
Mikula brings 20 years of experience in a variety of clinical and administrative leadership roles to VCU Health. Over the past 11 years, she has occupied a series of roles with progressive responsibilities both at the level of the establishment and the division for HCA Healthcare. It is currently vice-president of division for the quality and safety of patients with the monitoring of quality management of 18 hospitals and independent emergency services associated in Virginia, Indiana and New Hampshire.
An authorized nurse certified in pediatrics, Mikula also brings clinical experience to this role. She served in the pediatric intensive care unit of the Georgetown University Hospital, as well as at the Children’s National Medical Center Heart Institute, in Washington, DC, she obtained a baccalaureate in nursing sciences from the University of Virginie and a master’s degree in nursing, leadership and management of George Washington University and are currently continuing its MBA here to Virginia Commonwealth University.
The Mikula service also extends to professional organizations, because it is currently a member of the Council of the Ancients of the University of Virginia School of Nursing and the Advisory Council for the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association Center for Healthcare Excellence. It was recognized by the Becker’s “Rising Stars” program in 2023 and received Johnson & Johnson “Innovator Recognition” in 2018.
